IJMB – Interim Joint Matriculation Board is an advanced level programme that runs for a period of 12 months (2 semesters) after which a successful students merits direct entry admission into 200 level in a Nigerian or foreign university of choice to study his/her selected course.
The programme which is fully certified by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC) and approved by the federal government of Nigeria was established with the aim of providing qualitative and reliable educational assessment, encouraging academic and moral excellence and promoting sustainable human resource development.
IJMB serves as an alternative to the Joint Matriculation Board (JAMB) of which thousands of students apply and sit for its UTME yearly but only about 20% are successful in securing admission into higher institutions, with most candidates reapplying in subsequent years, thus contributing immensely to worsening the admission situation in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Candidates seeking admission into the IJMB programme must possess a minimum of 5 Credits in relevant o’level subjects from WAEC, NECO or NABTEB in not more than two sittings. Candidates who are awaiting results can also apply for the IJMB programme.
Lectures on IJMB programme are guided by the approved IJMB syllabus and the contents of the IJMB syllabus cover University 100 level syllabus and above, which must be taught within a period of two semesters.
The entire IJMB examination process is moderated by the IJMB headquaters, ABU, Zaria together with JAMB-approved moderators.
